1. Check coverage before choosing storage
Open Maps and inspect the prepared coverage. The current Central Muskoka pilot is approximately 42 × 41 kilometres and 4.41 MB. It does not cover the entire Muskoka district, Ontario or every selected radius. Outside the prepared area, import a compatible map or choose an available area.
Check the start, destination and alternative against the boundary. A disabled next button can mean there is no prepared file for the chosen area; adding storage will not create missing coverage.
2. Save a file, not a link
Record the filename, source date, approximate size and required reader. PMTiles files need a compatible reader. A page bookmark or a screenshot may preserve a small view but is not the same as a browsable offline map.
On a computer, keep the actual file in a known folder. On a compatible phone or USB setup, use the supported import flow and confirm file access. Device storage and adapter behavior vary; one successful desktop test does not establish phone compatibility.

3. Reopen and inspect
Keep a trusted communication alternative while practising. Disconnect internet for the test and reopen the saved file in its intended reader, rather than looking only at an already loaded online tab. Pan to the coverage edges and inspect roads, labels and your reference location.
Written routes and saved coordinates are available references, not automatic road-routing or live closure data. This website’s map workspace still needs internet to reopen; the native phone reader can reopen compatible imported maps. Check current local conditions before travel.

No universal regional packs, guaranteed GPS accuracy or automatic turn-by-turn road routing is promised. A printed or saved map cannot provide live closures.
