Prepper development privacy notice

Prepper is in development for Android and iPhone. Public store releases and purchases are not open. This notice describes the website, native app code and connected development services; it does not replace the final release policy.

The website

The marketing page does not collect your routes, kit contents, notes or documents. Its storage guide changes only what is displayed on the page. No advertising tracker or marketing email signup has been added to Prepper. Hosting providers receive ordinary request information, such as IP address, time and requested URL, to serve the site.

Younger visitors

Accounts and boards are for ages 13 and older. Under-13 visitors may read public guides without an account. Before Prepper sign-in we ask for an age range, not a birth date. A signed, one-hour browser cookie carries the choice through sign-in. For connected accounts we store the private age range, policy version and acceptance time. Teen community profiles do not store first name, last name or home region, and posts are text only with moderator review. Existing shared UpSol account information is separate: sign-in providers may supply your email and account name. Age is self-declared. Contact support for corrections or deletion.

Your account and community

Native sign-in opens the existing UpSol sign-in page. You approve connecting Prepper; a short-lived authorization code links the app to your account. The app keeps account credentials in the operating system’s secure storage. The service stores hashed session tokens and account identifiers.

When you explicitly publish to the community, your chosen public alias, topic or reply and publication time are shared with signed-in members. Your account email is not displayed with posts. Reports, blocks and moderation decisions are stored by UpSol, and authorized administrators can review reported content. Do not post information you want to keep private. Signing out removes the app’s local sign-in credentials; when connected, it also requests session revocation.

Home region and infrastructure

A home region is optional. You may enter a broad city, province or state, and country to help plan regional downloads. This text is stored in your private member profile and is not included with public posts. Do not enter a street address. In Critical Infrastructure, current location is optional and requested only when you choose it. Search coordinates stay in the current device session and are not sent in regional download requests. Downloads reveal the requested country or province to the hosting service through ordinary request logs. Public facility packs are stored without vault encryption and can be exported to Files or USB; they do not include your GPS search centre. The browser requires internet to reopen the site.

Encrypted private preparation

The native vault encrypts your notes, kit, route cards, saved GPS tracks, practice records and chosen community cache with a separate passphrase. These contents are not uploaded to UpSol by the vault. A backup is encrypted before being offered to the system share sheet. UpSol cannot reset the vault passphrase. Files and backups you copy to other apps or drives remain at those destinations until you remove them. A USB drive is not automatically encrypted as a whole.

Earlier browser-vault records have not been deleted. If you migrate readable files from an earlier native development build, the original files are preserved and remain readable. Native storage, recovery, screen privacy and power-loss behavior still require physical-device validation. Use test information during development.

Saved guides and worksheets

When you save a guide, Prepper stores its identifier and save date with your account. You can remove a bookmark from your library. Worksheet answers stay in the open reader and the file you explicitly download; they are not uploaded to your account. Downloaded documents are not encrypted. Keep private contact or medical details in suitable private storage, and remove local copies separately.

Encyclopedia selections

When you choose Save selection in this browser, or use Sign in to download with topic choices or equipment references, Prepper saves those choices and references in this browser if storage is available. They are not synced to your account or uploaded by the encyclopedia builder. Other people using this browser may be able to see them. Clear saved collection removes the saved browser record and clears the open edition’s topic choices and equipment notes; previously exported files must be deleted separately. Equipment references and downloaded books are unencrypted. Do not enter serial numbers, exact storage locations, or other sensitive details. Importing a selection file reads it locally.

Maps, location and downloads

Location access starts when you request it in Maps and grant permission. Recording is foreground only; saved tracks go into the encrypted vault. The map module does not upload your GPS track to a routing service. Public map caches are separate and unencrypted: a downloaded region can reveal an area of interest.

Maintenance downloads contact the selected approved content source, such as Kiwix, which receives ordinary network information. Public Wikipedia archives, content manifests and map packs are stored separately from the private vault. Opening a file in Kiwix or another app subjects it to that app’s behavior. Choosing a cloud file through the system file picker may cause its provider to retrieve it.

Purchases and offline access

The purchase integration is gated until store verification is configured. When enabled, verification sends the store purchase token, account binding and device public key to UpSol. A signed core entitlement is stored locally for offline verification. Store providers handle payment details. Private preparation is not included in purchase verification.

Deletion requests

You can request account and data deletion from the website or the app’s account settings. Requests are stored with your account identifier, chosen scope and submission date, and appear in the private administration queue. Submission is not proof of completed deletion. Shared UpSol workspaces, purchase records, backups and copies on your devices require separate handling. Contact support with the request reference.

Community review

New member posts, photos and coordinator replies are held for moderator review. Reviewers can see pending content; it is not available to ordinary members until approved. Read the community standards.

Before public release

Account and data deletion, retention schedules, processor disclosures, age and moderation policies, privacy declarations and store distribution must be finalized before launch. There is no claim that these release requirements are already completed.
